Purpose:
Our department established the “Shih Ming-Teh Lecture” in order to highlight Mr. Shih’s significant contribution to the democratic development in Taiwan, and to carry out Mr. Shih’s long-standing concern toward ethnic harmony, political reconciliation, and cross-strait peace. The department will organize a series of academic activities in accordance with the aforementioned purpose to enhance the understanding of the related issues in our society and to cultivate students of political science who will contribute to the ideal of world peace.

In the initial phase of the Lecture (2005-2008), the department will hold the following activities every year: (a) Academic Lectures Series (b) Statesman’s Lectures Series (c) Scholarship in honor of Shih Ming-Teh.
