The NTU Political Science Department not only provides undergraduate and graduate students with an integrated and diverse academic program, but also encourages students to actively participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, in order to give them valuable experience that will help them when starting their careers. In addition to the more than 200 choices of on-campus student clubs, our department also has a student-affairs council made up of students and professors, which aims to support and advise our students on extracurricular activities choices and involvement
To help our students stay focused on health and exercise when they are not studying, our department has established a number of sports teams, e.g. male and female basketball, male and female volleyball, baseball, pool, badminton, as well as a sports-enthusiast club. Each of these organizations is dedicated to physical practice, and in competition has repeatedly set new achievements, of which our department is very proud.
In addition to sports activities, our students also organize other kinds of clubs, including those which involve seminar speeches, model international conferences, debate competitions, English speech competitions, and a summer politics camp (which is for high school students who are interested in politics). These activities supplement and consolidate what students learn in class, while also improving their abilities to engage in future planning and assume leadership roles in their organizations.
Finally, our department places a strong emphasis on maintaining continuing contacts among students. Our students and graduates have organized such diverse activities as New Years camp-outs, campus tours, barbecues, singing competitions, mountain-climbing trips for students and professors, photo competitions, “Political Science Week” activities, “Political Science Night,” and alumni reunions. These activities have helped our students consolidate their organizational abilities as well as their career ambitions.
